Yellow Pages Is Back -- Would probably be the most accurate headline describing the current status of the industry. After a tough past few years where the industry has had a spotty performance at best, signs all across the industry from publishers, to CMRs, to suppliers point to an improving economic pace and outlook for 2005.
No sign of this recovery is more evident than the upcoming Yellow Pages Association (YPA) conference March 6-8, 2005 at The Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, where a record attendance is expected and a full exhibit hall awaits the attendees. This conference will mark the Association's thirtieth anniversary.
The other positive sign for the industry is the number of announcements and new product introductions we are seeing from the industry suppliers. Given the sheer number of these important announcements we have decided to change the normal presentation of our monthly newsletter to give you a sneak peak at some of the key happenings you will see on the YPA Exhibit floor, even if you can't be there. AdMission Corporation, a provider of directional advertising solutions has recently completed its first agreement with a Yellow Pages publisher -- SuperPages.ca, which has selected AdMissions enhanced advertising technology to enhance Canadas comprehensive online business and residential directory. The site gives both "brick and mortar" and online-only advertisers a venue to promote goods and services through listings and Web pages, according to their specific local, regional and national needs. Enhancing these listings with AdMission will provide a premium ad product with a visual, interactive component.
