  • 04/24/2008 - Local Insight Completes Acquisition of The Berry Company's Independent Line of Business
    Local Insight Regatta Holdings, Inc. today announced that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of The Berry Company's Independent Line of Business (ILOB) from L.M. Berry and Company, a subsidiary of AT&T. The ILOB provides an integrated array of directory services, including sales, marketing, interactive sales support, ad design and composition services, to more than 80 Yellow Pages publishers throughout the country. With the conclusion of this transaction, Local Insight Regatta Holdings provides outsourced Yellow Pages sales, marketing and production services to more than 160 telcos in the United States, covering more than 900 print directories.

  • 04/22/2008 - YPA & ADP Unveil Environmental Seal
    The Yellow Pages Association" (YPA") and the Association of Directory Publishers (ADP) today unveiled a unique environmental seal that directory publishers may use to demonstrate they are committed to specific, environmental guidelines adopted by both Associations. The YPA and the ADP announced formal Joint Environmental Guidelines earlier this month, and member publishers of either organization that agree to adhere to these Guidelines may choose to display the new seal on directories and other sales and marketing materials. The Guidelines focus on source reduction, recycling opportunities and efforts to minimize the Yellow Pages industry's environmental impact.
     
  • 04/17/2008 - HYPN Launches New Digital Product
    HYP Network/Directorio en Español, the leading independent publisher of Spanish language Yellow Pages directories in the United States announced the launching of their Search Engine based Pay Per Click Advertising Program.

    According to Jerry Folckemer, HYP's CEO, with Internet traffic growing 20% per year and 99% of Internet users accessing web sites through Search Engines, Directorio en Español's programs are meant to be a huge success delivering guaranteed clicks to their customer's pages from Google, Yahoo, Ask.com, MSN and AOL (in an average month, 9.4 Billion searches are performed).
     
  • 04/14/2008 - Top U.S. Markets Rely Heavily on Yellow Pages
    The Yellow Pages Association" (YPA") today announced that residents and businesses in many of the top U.S. Designated Market Areas (DMAs*) rely heavily on the Yellow Pages. Out of the top U.S. DMAs, more people in tech-savvy cities including Portland, Ore., Seattle, Columbus, Ohio and Charlotte, N.C. reference the Yellow Pages per week than the national average. The findings were gathered from the 2008 Yellow Pages Association Industry Usage Study: National Results, conducted by Knowledge Networks/Statistical Research, Inc. (KN/SRI). The usage study results also show that the Yellow Pages reach consumers who are ready and able to make purchases. Nationally, 86 percent of those surveyed made a purchase or were likely to do so after making a print Yellow Pages reference.
     
  • 04/08/2008 - YPA Introduces Environmental Guidelines
    To further demonstrate the Yellow Pages industry's commitment to environmental responsibility, the Yellow Pages Association" (YPA"), in concert with the Association of Directory Publishers, today announced formal Joint Environmental Guidelines for the directory publishing industry. Already adopted by many major publishers, the Guidelines focus on source reduction of telephone directories, enhanced recycling programs and environmentally sensitive manufacturing practices. "With more than 13.4 billion print Yellow Pages references per year, we know directories are critical to the success of local businesses and are an important resource for the communities they serve," said Neg Norton, president, YPA. "It's also imperative for us, together with national environmental organizations and the overall business community, to promote best practice programs that reduce environmental impact and foster conservation."

  • 03/31/2008 - Local Matters and mobilePeople Merge
    Local Matters is set to merge with Denmark's search engine mobilePeople in a deal designed to capitalize on growing mobile advertising market, the companies said. The combined company would sell media-related technology solutions to publishers and directory assistance providers who are increasingly dependent on Internet and mobile to capture users and local advertisers. The solution enables digital channels, including the Internet, wireless and voice service providers, to make money by connecting consumers and advertisers.
     
  • 03/18/2008 - Going by the book
    Two years ago, Brooke Cloninger wondered how to improve the visibility of her business in the Spokane Dex phone book. Her yellow pages ad was tucked away in the middle of the section for dentists, but it was crowded out by larger and splashier ads purchased by dozens of other area dentists.

    So starting in 2006 and then again last year, Cloninger took a front-and-center approach to being seen. Every phone book produced by Dex and distributed last fall in Spokane County features her smiling face and her dental office details in a colorful ad that doubles as a refrigerator magnet, glued to the top of the phone directory.
     
  • 03/17/2008 - Business.com Launches New Sections
    anta Monica-based business search engine Business.com said this morning that it has launched two new "channels" focused on money and technology. The firm said the new areas on the firm's web sites are targeted at serving buyers and sellers of business financial services and technology. The company also said that it has integrated how-to guide content from its Work.com business expert community into its directory pages, an updated taxonomy of business product and service categories, new product finders, along with other enhancements to its web site. Business.com operates an online, business-focused search portal; the firm is a subsidiary of R.H. Donnelley Corporation.
     
  • 03/17/2008 - YELLOWPAGES.COM Network Expands to Microsoft Search Sites
    YELLOWPAGES.COM, a subsidiary of AT&T announced a distribution agreement with Microsoft Corp. that will put YELLOWPAGES.COMs comprehensive advertising listings and content in front of consumers who use Microsofts local search sites. The agreement is expected to launch in early April, and it will give YELLOWPAGES.COM advertisers exposure through Microsofts search pages within the Live Search and Live Search Maps properties, including MSN Yellow Pages.
     
  • 03/17/2008 - Cox and Yellow Book Team Up
    Cox Communications, the seventh largest phone service provider in the U.S., and Yellow Book USA, a leading yellow pages and online search company, announced today that they have entered into a co-marketing and distribution agreement. Under the new teaming arrangement, Cox and Yellow Book will promote each other's products and services through a variety of sales and marketing channels. The agreement also provides for the publication of Yellow Book directories that will include Cox branding and product information in key Cox markets. The first four pages of the directories will highlight Cox products and local service capabilities. In addition to normal distribution channels, Yellow Book directories will be available at Cox retail locations.
     
  • 03/17/2008 - WebVisible, Inc. Secures $12 Million in Funding

  • 02/27/2008 - Idearc CEO Leaves After 8 Days Citing Health
    Idearc Inc. (IAR) Chief Executive John Mueller resigned after just over one week on the job, citing "unforeseen health reasons." The telephone-directory printer named Executive Vice President Frank Gatto interim CEO while a search is conducted. Before joining Idearc, Gatto served as chief financial officer for Puerto Rico Telephone Co. from September 1999 to September 2001.
     
  • 02/26/2008 - New Research Shows Overall Yellow Pages Usage Growing
    The Yellow Pages Association"(YPA") today announced that industry research shows 2007 Yellow Pages usage grew to 17.2 billion searches in 2007, up from 16.7 billion in 2006. Print usage remained stable with 13.4 billion print Yellow Pages references, unchanged from 2006, according to the 2007 Knowledge Networks/SRI (KN/SRI) Industry Usage Study, while comScore reports Internet Yellow Pages (IYP) searches increased 15 percent in 2007 to 3.8 billion, up from 2006's 3.3 billion IYP searches.

  • 01/23/2008 - AT&T Announces New Research Strategy
    - AT&T Advertising & Publishing, the nation's largest Yellow Pages publisher in terms of revenue, has adopted a new research strategy to enhance and increase the information provided to advertisers about the usage and value of its advertising products. Beginning in January 2008, AT&T has retained M/A/R/C Research to measure usage in 275 directory areas, which represent more than 75 percent of advertisers' investment dollars for AT&T Advertising & Publishing. These markets will be supported by three types of quantifiable research: call-tracking studies, proprietary print and Internet Yellow Pages (IYP) studies and industry-standard "syndicated" methodology of which markets will be pre-announced and have same-day release from M/A/R/C research. The research will measure a rolling 12-month usage average, in addition to other key metrics that give a complete picture of how consumers are using AT&T Real Yellow Pages in their buying decisions.

  • 12/13/2007 - Kelsey Group: Audience Shift Continues to Drive Ad Dollars Online
    Annual revenues in the automotive advertising market will hold steady globally at $40 billion through 2011, according to The Kelsey Group, the leading provider of research, data and strategic analysis on directories, small-business advertising and online local media. However, according to a report from the firms new continuous advisory service, Marketplaces: Verticals, Classifieds & E-Commerce, titled, Automotive and the Internet: A Category in Transition, as the audience continues to shift online, auto advertising dollars will also move from traditional to online media.

    Among the reports findings is that the Internets share of auto advertising dollars on a global basis will grow from 5 percent in 2007 to 13 percent in 2011. During the same period, traditional classifieds share is expected to decrease from 14 percent to 10 percent and newspapers share is expected to decline from 17 percent to 14 percent.

    AT&T Inc. announced today that an AT&T subsidiary has agreed to acquire privately held Ingenio, a leading provider of Pay Per Call(R) technology. The transaction is expected to close in early January 2008. AT&T plans to integrate Ingenios Pay Per Call solutions into its directory service and local search advertising portfolio, including the YELLOWPAGES.COM Network, AT&T Real Yellow Pages and 1-800-Yellow Pages. Ingenios Pay Per Call service is an advertising platform that allows businesses to manage their ad programs and generate valuable phone leads. The platform uses proprietary technology to provision unique published phone numbers to track calls to businesses generated by those ads, and advertisers fees are based on the volume of these leads.
     
  • 11/07/2007 - Yellow Pages Income Fund Reports Strong 2007 Third Quarter Results
    Yellow Pages Income Fund (TSX: YLO.UN) today announced solid 2007 third quarter financial results driven by continued momentum in the companys financial and operating metrics. In the quarter ending September 30, 2007, consolidated net earnings increased to $122.1 million from $119.5 million during the same period of 2006. Income from operations was $163.8 million for the quarter compared to $164.6 million in the prior year due to higher amortization and depreciation following our recent business acquisitions. Adjusted Revenues1 grew 12.9 per cent to $417.6 million while Adjusted EBITDA1 grew by 15.1 per cent to $227.6 million compared to the third quarter of 2006. Revenue growth came from both organic sources and from recently acquired businesses. Online revenues for Directories and Vertical Media combined were $45.1 million for the quarter or approximately $180 million annualized. Based on the assessment of year-to-date performance in 2007 and the expectation of continuing strong momentum in operating and financial metrics in 2008, the Fund is increasing cash distributions to unitholders by 3.7% to the level of $1.13 annually from $1.09 currently

    White Directory Publishers, a division of Hearst Holdings, Inc., and BIAP Inc. jointly announced today an agreement for Hearst-owned Talking Phone Book® to be the exclusive sales agents for BIAP's Yellow Pages on TV, a software application that allows viewers to access Yellow Pages information on TV with their regular digital remote.

    from PR Newswire: GateHouse Media, Inc. announced today it has signed a definitive share purchase agreement to acquire all of the issued and outstanding capital stock of SureWest Directories from SureWest Communications for a purchase price of $110.0 million, including $3.5 million of working capital, for a net purchase price of $106.5 million. The transaction has been structured with a 338h(10) election by the seller. SureWest Directories is engaged in the business of publishing yellow page and white page directories in the Sacramento, California area and internet yellow pages through the http://www.sacramento.com/ website. GateHouse will become the publisher of the official directory of SureWest Telephone. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the first quarter and is subject to governmental and customary closing conditions.
