Now We Are "Paper Fetishists" 06/05/2008 - I’m sure you have noticed that YP Talk has been engaged in some pretty direct dialogue with those bloggers, websites, and other media that choose to disparage the Yellow Page industry. These “conversations” have ranged from being totally laughable to down right personal in their attacks. It’s one thing to be environmentally focused -- sure, we all need to share this planet we live on. But more often than not these attacks on the Yellow Page industry have been fueled by any number of wild accusations or just plain old bad facts. To show you the level of absurdity that is now being perpetuated across hyperspace, here are comments from one site – I have chosen to NOT provide the link because we don’t need to drive any further traffic to this fine citizen’s site: “…Recycling isn't the answer. Rather, phone books, like gas-guzzling cars and cheap air fares, are so last year. Now that over two-thirds of the country has access to the internet, people are surely using their paper directories less and less. I reckon that phone books are on the way out -- so let them fade away gradually, and provide small numbers for the elderly, the unconnected and the paper fetishists. The rest of us are done….” Paper fetishists?? Wow. Bonus points for uniqueness but I am amazed at the level of obtuseness that these computer eco-snobs demonstrate, especially their failure to see the whole picture. They don’t seem to recognize that the print Yellow Pages:
